πŸ“– An Age of Ink and Genius: Waterman is one of the most iconic brands in the history of fountain pens, with a tradition dating back to 1883. Founded in New York by Lewis Edson Waterman , the company played a crucial role in the development and popularization of the modern fountain pen. Legend has it that Lewis Waterman, then an insurance salesman, lost an important contract because his pen stained the documentβ€”previously, writing was done with a feather and inkwell. Determined to solve the problem, in 1884 he patented a capillary feed system that ensured a constant flow of ink, preventing leaks and interruptions while writing. This system, known as the β€œmulti-channel feed,” represented a breakthrough in the industry and was the basis of the company's early success. In 1888, the company changed its name to the L.E. Waterman Company . The brilliant Lewis Edson Waterman, for whom I have a profound admiration, was one of his later innovations. In 1904, he invented and introduced the pocket clip. In 1907, he launched the famous "Safety Pen," a leak-proof retractable pen. In 1913, he introduced the lever-filling system, which remained a standard for decades. This demonstrates his genius and unparalleled skill. He was a revolutionary and tenacious man who changed the history of the fountain pen. His legacy still lives on today, in our hands, holding a fountain pen!
