Ottoman vintage fountains with imperial tughra Hand-built artisan fountain pen by goldsmith craftsmen during the Ottoman Empire, made between the end of the 19th century and the early 20th century. The object strikes for the finely chiseled golden metal body with floral bas-relief and for the precious T nozzle (imperial calligraphic signature), attributable to Sultan Abdulhamid II (1842-1918) . It is remembered as the last large sultan of absolute before the advent of the modern Ottoman Parliament. Under its kingdom, an elaborate artistic and symbolic language spread, which also included the use of imperial monograms (tughra), complex calligraphies and floral symbols with political and spiritual value.
His government began from 31 August 1876 to 27 April 1909 with his deposition by young Turks.
The pen is a goldsmith masterpiece, an elegant and historically significant work, designed to be worn by officials, calligraphers or dignitaries. The Eyedropper predicted loading system that the entire body of the pen is filled with liquid ink through a dropper, supplied.
The nib with heart hole and oriental writings testifies to the refinement of the Ottoman calligraphy, while the base at the base suggests daily use by official scribes. A pen that is not only a writing tool, but an authentic relic of a refined civilization.

📖 An era of ink and genius: in the heart of the last glories of the Ottoman Empire, the writing was sacred. The pens like this accompanied the calligraphs between the rooms of the Yıldız Palace, the Topkapı Gardens, or the Madrase of Istanbul. The engraved t noghra symbolized sovereign power, while every stretch on the sheet Sanciva decrees, poems and knowledge handed down. This fountain, perfectly preserved and still works, is a real witness of that world of velvets, inks and gold.
The sultan Abdülhamid II (1842–1918) was the 34th sovereign of the Ottoman Empire, reign from 1876 to 1909. Central figure of the late Empire, it is known for its authority style of government but also for the modernization of the state and the profound cultural and infrastructure transformations. He was the promoter of large infrastructure projects, including the famous hijaz railway, and supporter of science and education.
